English, Scottish and Welsh railways has a name with natural strengths, and some obvious limitations. As the business wanted to grow its presence in the European market, EWS turned to us to develop a new brand. Without the luxury of marketing support, the design needed to generate immediate impact, with a brand name and design that required no 'translation' or 'interpretation'.
The business was to challenge existing nationalised operators,
so our brand work focused on creating a sense of direction
and purpose, a refreshing change from the perceptions of the
existing national operators, with particular focus on cross
channel traffic.
